Polar Inuit Hunters-Ussarquk Henson
Grandson of famed Polar Explorer Matthew Henson, Ussarquk is the Inuit patriarch of Qaanaaq, Greenland the world's most northern community. Henson still hunts the frozen seas of Bafin Bay for seals, walrus and polar bears. Henson leads hunters traveling by dogsled down the coast visiting relatives in several villages as long as the sea remains frozen. Facing open water forces the dogteams inland to traverse the ice shield surviving off stored provisions from the ocean or cached.
